Life Lessons
The Christian lacking the character qualities in vv. 5-7 is nearsighted. He no longer looks ahead to the Rapture, but to the
present world. He is also blind. He is blind to the spiritual realities of life from God’s viewpoint. He also has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. He has forgotten about how merciful God has been in saving him. Such a person needs to draw near to Christ once again, confess his sin (1 Jn 1:9), and grow in Christ’s grace and knowledge.
