Memory Verse
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king (Daniel 3:16-17).
Commentary
Daniel’s three friends demonstrate the same faith that Daniel has exhibited by defying the most powerful individual person on earth at this time in the face of what appears to be certain death, their faith in God and His ability is unwavering. While we do not regularly face the same choice of destruction or abandoning our faith, the example of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah (Shadrach Meshach and Abed-Nego) serve to inspire us to look to the Lord not only in dire need but during all those little moments of despair and hopelessness. Our God is faithful through both the impossible and the trivial.
