Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God (1 Corinthians 4:5).
Commentary
The Corinthian believers were divided over teachers, wealth, and behavior rather than being unified around Christ. They even began to look down on Paul due to his meager resources. Not that the judgement of men bothered Paul but he was concerned for their wellbeing and called upon them to avoid this kind of judgement (while in later chapters he will call for judgement in other areas) and leave this to the Lord.
