Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24).

Commentary
The issue here is not Jesus’ ability but a willingness to respond in faith, since “everything is possible for the one who believes.” Jesus is not saying that with enough faith you can do anything, but, rather that God has the power to do anything. It is not the amount of faith that is important; it is the object of that faith. In Nazareth, Jesus “could not do any miracles there” because of their unbelief (Mark 6:5). God takes over when people let go and have faith in him.
